Therapy For Children & Teens | Waltham, MA
Growing Up Is Hard. They Don't Have to Navigate It Alone.
Whether your child is navigating anxiety, struggling with friendships, experiencing big emotions, or simply needing a place to be themselves, therapy can offer space to feel understood and supported. At Draw Within Counseling, I believe young people deserve more than being told to calm down, try harder, or stop worrying. They deserve to be heard, understood, and supported as they learn who they are.
Let's help them grow into themselves, not someone else's expectations.
Does This Sound Familiar?
Constant worry or reassurance-seeking
School stress and perfectionism

How I can help
I support children and teens navigating anxiety, emotional regulation, ADHD, executive functioning, friendships, boundaries, identity, and life transitions.
Together, we work on building coping skills, confidence, self-understanding, communication, and flexibility.
The goal isn't to change who your child is. It's to help them better understand themselves, recognize their strengths, and feel more confident navigating the world as they are.
Parents & Caregivers
You're part of the process, too.
Supporting a child who's struggling can be confusing, exhausting, and sometimes overwhelming. You might find yourself wondering when to step in, when to give space, or how to respond when nothing seems to help.
While therapy provides children and teens with their own confidential space, I also recognize the importance of caregiver involvement.
Depending on your child's age, needs, and treatment goals, our work may include parent check-ins, collaborative problem-solving, and practical strategies to support your child outside of sessions.
Together, we may explore:
Understanding what's underneath challenging behaviors.
Supporting emotional regulation without dismissing difficult feelings.
Building routines and expectations that work for your family.
Encouraging independence, responsibility, and self-advocacy.
Navigating communication challenges and family dynamics.
Recognizing when your child needs support and when they need room to try something on their own.
The goal isn't to create a child who never struggles. It's to help them develop the tools, confidence, and support to navigate challenges.
Parent involvement is balanced with your child's privacy, trust, and developmental needs. We'll discuss how communication and confidentiality work before beginning treatment.
You’ve Got Questions I’ve Got Answers
-
Not at all! You don't need to be an artist or even enjoy drawing to benefit from expressive arts therapy. Creativity can look like a lot of different things, including music, movement, storytelling, games, and imaginative play.
I tailor sessions to each child's interests, comfort level, and needs. Sometimes we create, sometimes we talk, and sometimes we do a little of both. There's no pressure to make something beautiful or even make something at all!

That's okay, and it's actually pretty common! Therapy can feel intimidating, especially when it wasn't your idea in the first place.
I prioritize building trust, respecting autonomy, and getting to know your teen as a person rather than focusing solely on what adults think needs to change. We move at a pace that feels comfortable, and I encourage teens to have a voice in what we work on and how we approach it.
Therapy shouldn't feel like another place where someone is telling you what to do.

You're an important part of your child's support system! The level of involvement depends on your child's age, individual needs, and treatment goals.
For younger children, this may include more frequent parent check-ins, collaborative problem-solving, and strategies to practice at home. For teens, involvement may look different as we balance their growing independence with the support they need.
I also prioritize creating a confidential space where young people feel comfortable expressing themselves. We'll discuss communication, privacy, and the limits of confidentiality together so everyone understands what to expect.

Yes! I offer in-person therapy in Waltham, Massachusetts, as well as virtual therapy for clients located in Massachusetts and Wisconsin.
Virtual sessions can be a great option for busy families, teens with packed schedules, or young people who feel more comfortable participating from their own space.
Just like in-person sessions, virtual therapy can incorporate creative activities, interactive exercises, and opportunities for self-expression. We'll work together to determine whether virtual or in-person therapy is the best fit for your child's age, needs, and comfort level.
